As of the evening of Nov. 25, the city of Mercer Island reported that Puget Sound Energy (PSE) crews were still working to restore power to small pockets of the Island and that nearly all residents had their electricity reconnected following last week’s massive windstorm.
“If you still don’t have power, contact PSE to report your continued outage even if you reported it previously,” said the city, which also encouraged impacted customers to contact its customer service team (customerservice@mercerisland.gov or 206-275-7600) to lend a hand in connecting with PSE. Residents are also advised to contact their service provider if they are without internet or TV service.
As MI crews clear copious amounts of debris to ensure that roads are obstacle-free, the city asks residents to aid crews by clearing leaves and debris from storm drains in their neighborhoods. Residents can drop off leaves, branches and other vegetation debris at collection sites at the Homestead Park and South Mercer Playfields parking lots, which are open during daylight hours for safety reasons.
The city added that local transfer stations are waiving yard waste fees, and asks residents not to place debris in the road or other right-of-way areas for pickup.
King County Emergency Management has posted a survey for residents and businesses to inform the county if the storm caused any damages to their primary residence or workplace.
“This information may help Washington request disaster assistance from the state and federal government,” the city said.
