The City of Mercer Island has begun construction work on a new multi-use trail along Island Crest Way.

Due to the construction work, sections of the trail may be closed for brief periods of time, and there may be some traffic delays.

The trail surfacing project runs from Island Park Elementary to S.E. 63rd Street along Island Crest Way.

Crews will do some minor grading and other preparation to the currently uneven trail surface. Field crews are expected to add a new gravel surface to the trail the week of Aug. 19.

Once finished, the upgraded trail will give walkers and bikers are smooth six-foot wide surface, allowing better access between the school and Pioneer Park.
