City water line maintenance set for Nov. 12

Residents in the area may experience a temporary cloudiness after water following the flushing operation.

On Thursday, Nov. 12, City crews will be flushing the water mains along Island Crest Way from S.E. 68th Street down to S.E. 78th, and eastward to 92nd Avenue S.E. Other areas may be scheduled in the coming weeks.

This project is part of the City’s annual maintenance program, which helps clear sediment and extend the life of the pipes. The summer drought put this kind of work on hold.

Drivers may encounter flaggers along Island Crest Way when hoses and equipment need to be placed in the travel lanes, but no water service interruptions are expected during these operations.

Water customers in the project area may experience a temporary and minor cloudiness in their drinking water following the flushing operation. This cloudiness is safe, but can be cleared by running the tap long enough to purge the service line to the house.

Questions or concerns about this operation can be directed to Brian McDaniel, Utilities Operations Manager, at 206-275-7812.
