Abby Martin (left), Madison Blackburn (middle) and Katie Martin (right) stand proud at the summit of Mt. Adams on Sunday, Aug. 31, at approximately 2:45 p.m. The weather was cold and there were snow flurries on the way up the mountain, which cleared when the girls reached the summit. All three Mercer Island residents trained for several months so that they could be prepared for the high altitude of 12,277 feet at the top of the mountain. The girls are planning to climb Mt. Rainier next June.
