Community Service
Without community service, we would not have a strong quality of life. It’s as important to the person who serves as well as the recipient. That is a quote by Dorothy Height, the civil rights and women’s rights activist. I completely agree with her. In fact, without a doubt, once a week all elementary schools should have a community service act.
Boys and girls, kindergarten to fifth-grade should have the opportunity to help our nation. If people never do community service during their childhood they could grow up to be lazy adults that never do anything. I know that kids should always be thanked and smiled at for helping out. I can tell that if no one steps up to help our beautiful Mercer Island will become a dump with sad and grumpy people living here. Not only is community service helpful, but it is fun too.
That is why elementary schools should have a community service project every week.

Discourage solicitors
I would encourage everyone not to buy from solicitors that are not licensed and knocking on our doors. A magazine solicitor from a halfway house miles from Mercer Island, stole my cell phone from my front porch. By not buying from them, hopefully we will encourage them not to solicit our neighborhood.
