One driver sustained minor injuries after being involved in a three-vehicle collision on Oct. 2 in the 4600 block of Island Crest Way.
Following treatment by Eastside Fire & Rescue staff, the driver was transported to the hospital as a precaution, according the Mercer Island Police Department (MIPD), which also dispatched officers to the scene at 4:45 p.m.
According to MIPD, the back vehicle in a row of three — whose driver appeared to be inattentive and following too closely — rear-ended the second vehicle, which was then pushed into the lead vehicle. Each car contained a driver, but the latter vehicle also had a passenger on board. The at-fault vehicle required a tow at the owner’s request.
All Island Crest Way northbound traffic was closed/detoured around the collision for about 30-40 minutes.
