Voters have dropped off their ballots and the initial results are in.
King County Elections released the first round of returns in the Aug. 6 primary tonight and here’s how the races presently stand in Congressional District 9 and Legislative District 41, both of which cover Mercer Island.
The top two vote-getters will advance to the general election on Nov. 5.
At press time in the 9th, current U.S. Rep. Adam Smith (D) had 55.56% of the votes (42,347 votes), Paul Martin (R) had 18.92% (14,417 votes), Melissa Chaudhry (D) had 17.73% (13,510 votes), Mark Greene (R) had 6.83% (5,204 votes) and David Ishii (Bipartisan) had 0.72% (551 votes).
In the 41st, current State Rep. Pos. 1 Tana Senn (D) had 70.20% of the votes (14,490 votes), Emily Tadlock (R) had 27.79% (5,736 votes) and Stan Lippmann (Antiadministration) had 1.83% (378 votes).
Also in the 41st, current State Rep. Pos. 2 My-Linh Thai (D) had 68.61% of the votes (14,170 votes), Al Rosenthal (R) had 18.59% (3,840 votes) and Pamela J. Randolph (R) had 12.70% (2,622 votes).
There was no primary for the third 41st seat, which features current State Sen. Lisa Wellman (D) and Jaskaran Singh Sarao (R). The King County Elections site showed that Wellman had 73.76% of the vote (15,047 votes) and Sarao had 25.95% (5,294 votes).
