Congregational Church on Mercer Island will hold an Earth Day Fair from 4-7 p.m. on April 22. The free event is open to the public and will take place in the church’s parking lot at 4545 Island Crest Way. Attendees are asked to wear masks.
The event will feature: A drive-through art instillation made of recycled materials; an exhibit on Orcas in the Puget Sound; booths providing environmental information from local environmental groups Citizens’ Climate Lobby, Interfaith Power and Light and Sustainable Mercer Island; information about the environmental impact of disposable face masks; salad grow bags will be given to each participant with instructions and seeds to grow their own salads; an exhibit of solar panels by Sun Path Electricity; a recycling truck by Ridwell; an art activity for kids; and Earth Day cookies for everyone.
Two Scout troops regularly meet at the church and they are actively involved in planning and hosting this event. Participants are encouraged to bring thin plastic bags and plastic packaging material to be recycled.
