The fourth annual Leap for Green Fair will be held on Saturday, April 16.
The event, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Community Center at Mercer View, will celebrate the Mercer Island School District’s becoming a King County certified green district.
MISD schools have completed the criteria in Level One of the program, Waste Reduction and Recycling, and will be recognized on Earth Day, April 14. Over the past year, the district has reduced garbage volumes, increased recycling, conserved natural resources and saved money at the same time. Several of the schools’ Green Teams will be hosting informational tables at the event.
Leap for Green is free and open to the public and is for children and adults of all ages. There will be music from Patrick and Friends, Guatemalan Dancers in costume, a reptile man, hula hooping with Hoop to the Beat, recycled art projects to do, Face Painting, and goats and chickens to visit. The Farmers Market will be on hand to serve delicious food from Patty Pan Grill, Anita’s Crepes, Whidbey Island Ice Cream, Got Soup and much more.
Walkers or bicyclists to the event will receive a prize. The Mercer Island Food Pantry will be happy to accept donations.
