Five Mercer Island girls, who are members of the Eastside FC girls 12U Blue team, won the 19th annual Rainier Challenge soccer tournament last weekend. The win marks the second tournament title for the team this summer.

Jennifer Bernardez, Anna Moscovici, Emi Olson, Jocelyn Thomson and Kate Wheeler are all 11 years old and live on Mercer Island.

The team played Washington Premier White in the finals and won off penalty kicks, 4-3, after a 1-1 tie at the end of regulation. Eastside had lost to Washington Premier in pool play.

Bernardez will be a sixth-grader at Lakeside School, while Moscovici, Olson, Thomson and Wheeler will be in sixth grade at Islander Middle School. The team is coached by Dan Bubar.
