Emerald City Smoothie on Mercer Island is up for sale

Tom Napier and his wife, Angela, plan to sell the Mercer Island Emerald City Smoothie, which they opened in 2006. The franchise is on sale for $149,950 as a complete package including furniture, fixtures, inventory and start-up training.

Two other Emerald City Smoothie locations are up for sale in King County. A Seattle shop, priced at $265,000, is located inside the Columbia Center Tower food court. The price also includes fixtures, inventory, training and the rights to open an additional store in the downtown Seattle area. This location was opened in 2008.

Another location in Redmond, which opened in 2007, is on the market for $97,000, which includes fixtures and training. The seller, David Smith, will sell the remaining inventory for an additional $2,500.

Franchise start-up costs range from $165,300 to $293,400, according to the company.

There are currently 13 locations in Seattle, Mercer Island, Bellevue, Kirkland and Redmond combined, and more than 65 stores nationwide including Washington, Arizona, Utah, Idaho and Connecticut, according to the franchise Web site. At least 30 more locations are expected to open soon. Emerald City Smoothie was founded in 1996 and was purchased by current president and CEO Jim Baskett in 2005.
