Dustin Grant and Amy Miller are engaged to be married on Aug. 21 at the Newcastle Country Club in Newcastle. Ms. Miller is a graduate of Prospect High School in Saratoga, Calif., class of 1997. She graduated from San Jose State University in San Jose, Calif., in 2005 with a Bachelor of Arts in communicative disorders and sciences. She has been employed at Stanford University Medical Center for four years as the lead medical staff coordinator. She is the daughter of Pam and Rick Baptist, of San Jose, Calif., and the deceased Robert Miller.

Mr. Grant graduated from Eastside Catholic in 1998 and has been employed at Cisco Systems in San Jose for 11 years as a technical leader. He is the son of Joan and Bill Messenger, of Mercer Island, Wash., and Sally and Richard Grant, of Gleneden Beach, Ore.

The couple met at the dog park in San Jose in 2004. Both currently reside in Santa Clara. They have two dogs, Beemer and Bentley. Mr. Grant surprised Ms. Miller by proposing with a ring on the top of Mount Blanc in Chamonix, France, with snowflakes gently falling around them, on Dec. 12, 2009.
