Mock SAT is from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 5, in the MIHS Commons. Registration is from 8:30 to 9 a.m. This is the same test that was given in Sept. New this year will be a Mock ACT from 9 to 1 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 12, with a new optional essay. Both administered and scored by Kaplan Premier. The cost of each mock test is $20. “Giving from the Heart” MIYFS fourth annual breakfast fundraiser will be held from 7:30 to 8:30 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 9, at the Mercer Island Presbyterian Church Fellowship Hall, to support Mercer Island’s families and youth. The Mercer Island Arts League (MIVAL) meets at 12:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 3, at the Mercer Island Library. The board meets at 11 a.m. Linda Demetre, an artist with a fine arts degree from the University of Montana, will demonstrate oilbar painting. Everyone is welcome.

Community seminar on landslides is from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 3, at the north-end fire station. Steven Palmer, from the geology division of the state’s Department of Natural Resources, will discuss landslide risk, causes, preventative measures and step-slope restoration. A question-and-answer session will follow.
