The family of Richard Sweezey, a Mercer Island resident presumed drowned late last month in Lake Washington, has hired a private organization to continue the search for him.

On July 20, Sweezey’s boat was found washed up on shore in Kirkland. He had left the Queen City Yacht Club in Seattle on his boat to conduct some repairs. Police searched for the man without results. Since that time, the King County Sheriff’s Office also conducted a search, but found nothing.

Media reports indicates that Sweezey was at home around the water. The family is anxious to find out what happened.

The family has now employed  a nonprofit dive group called Innerspace Exploration. It will use divers and sonar technology to find Sweezey and find out what happened.

The family is looking for help in funding the effort.
