A single family residence in the 7200 block of West Ridge Road caught fire on the evening of July 5.
First arriving units found heavy fire conditions showing from the roof, as the fire likely started in the attic. The family was not home, but a dog was rescued and returned to the homeowner.
A total of 38 firefighters from Mercer Island Fire, Bellevue Fire, Eastside Fire and Seattle Fire were used to control and extinguish the fire, according to the city’s website.
The roof was heavily damaged, though the home’s sprinkler system helped keep the fire from spreading. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
