Starting on Thursday, July 30, U.S. Navy guided-missile destroyers, the USS Shoup (DDG 86) and USS Momsen (DDG 92) will offer free public tours at Terminal 30, along with U.S. Coast Guard Cutter Bertholf and Canadian ships HMCS Nanaimo and Brandon. The public is welcome to tour the variety of ships and browse through displays on the pier.
Visitors will get to meet sailors from diverse backgrounds and learn about their jobs as they walk through the different parts of the ship. Free parking will be available at walking distance, next to the terminal. Tours are offered on a first-come, first-serve basis. Please note that tour schedules may be subject to change.
Ship Tour Schedule:
Free public ship tours at Terminal 30 from Thursday, July 30, to Saturday, Aug. 1, 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Sunday, Aug. 2, 12 to 4:30 p.m.
Public tours and safety:
When arriving for tours, all visitors will be required to present a government-issued photo ID and pass through an airport-style security screening checkpoint prior to boarding the ships. All visitors are subject to searching prior to entering the security zone. Visitors are encouraged to bring as few items as possible when arriving for their tour, and wearing flat-heeled, closed-toe shoes is recommended.
Prohibited items on board include the following:
• Weapons of any kind, including knives, firearms and mace
• Fireworks, flammable liquids or other explosives
• Illegal drugs and drug-related paraphernalia
• Large baggage, including backpacks and diaper bags (small camera bags and handbags may be permitted, but will be subject to search).
