The Washington Coalition for Open Government will host a discussion on Wednesday, Aug. 11, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Community Center at Mercer View.
The program will focus on Washington’s Public Records and Open Meetings Laws through an expert panel discussion on citizens’ legal rights to access public records and proceedings of various government agencies created to serve the people of Washington state.
Former state senator and representative for the 41st District, Jim Horn, will moderate the discussion. Horn is also a former Mercer Island mayor and City Council member.
Panelists include Toby Nixon, a former state representative and WCOG president; State Auditor Brian Sonntag; Greg Overstreet, of Allied Law Group; and Mercer Island resident Ira Appelman.
The event is sponsored by the League of Women Voters of Seattle and the Seattle Times.
