Mercer Island Girl Scouts have begun delivering pre-ordered cookies and will sell cookies around the Island beginning this Friday, March 2.
Girl Scouts organized cookie delivery and distribution on Feb. 25 in the Farmers Insurance garage on Mercer Island with volunteers’ help — the first time that Mercer Island scouts have been able to take on the delivery of their own cookies. MI Girl Scouts now include over 300 girls from kindergarten through 12th grade, in 30 troops, with over 150 adult volunteers.
MI Girl Scout Cookie managers Natalie Thomson and Jody Kris worked closely with Farmers Insurance, which donated the use of their covered garage space, and Girl Scouts and volunteers set up a “drive-thru” for each troops’ cookies to be easily picked up.
Girl Scout Cookies will be available for purchase at locations around the Island over the next two weeks, starting Friday, March 2, at $4 per box.
