Mercer Island girls soccer improved to 4-0 with a 3-1 victory over Newport Saturday at Newport High School.

Ashley Rudd gave the Islanders the lead just before the half with a goal in the 39th minute. Newport tied in the 48th minute, but two second-half goals from Jordan Snyder, both off assists from Camryn Steiner, helped the Islanders remain undefeated.

Mercer Island will open KingCo competition Tuesday, hosting Interlake at 7:30 p.m. at Islander Stadium.
