Islander tennis stays undefeated, soccer earns home conference win.

Girls tennis tops Liberty

The undefeated Mercer Island girls tennis team earned another conference win Tuesday, April 22, beating Liberty 6-1 at Mercer Island High School. Jenny Adams got the match win for Liberty in singles competition, beating Caroline Hamilton 7-5, 6-0, while Sammy Sweet defeated Sadie Demme 6-1, 6-3. Kimia Preston won over Sienna Rice 6-2, 6-1 and Chloe Gage beat Noelle Rauschendorfer 6-2, 6-0. The Islanders won out in doubles, with Melanie Lee and Miji Suhr defeating Alia Jaeger and Hannah Ho 6-0, 6-1, Catherine Seifert and Jamie Mounger beating Cheyenne Rice and Christina La 6-2, 6-0, and Julia Glick and Fiona Brasfield winning over Jyotsna Kuramkote and Emily Doan 6-1, 6-2. Mercer Island will take on Mount Si at 3:45 p.m. Tuesday, April 29 at Mount Si High School.

Boys soccer beats Interlake

KingCo’s first-place Islanders won over Interlake 3-1 Tuesday at Mercer Island Stadium, improving to 6-1-3 in the conference. Sean Bender put the Islanders on the board in the 42nd minute, Nathan Schuler struck in the 50th minute and Ryan Hill extended Mercer Island’s lead with a goal in the 55th minute, while Interlake’s lone score came off an own goal. Mercer Island will travel to Juanita High School to take on the Rebels at 7:30 p.m. Friday, April 25.
