University of Idaho
Kelsey Claire Otter, of Mercer Island, graduated with a Bachelor of
Science in family and consumer sciences.
Whitworth University
Carolyn Peterson, of Mercer Island, has been awarded a Bachelor of Arts from Whitworth University, a private, liberal arts university
affiliated with the Presbyterian Church in Spokane, Wash.
University of Oregon
Peter Bogden, son of Carol Brooks and James Bogden of Mercer Island, and a 2006 MIHS graduate, received his Bachelor of Arts in history on June 14.
University of Montana
Aaron Lindstrom, a 2006 graduate of MIHS, graduated in May from the University of Montana with a BFA in drama.
Michael Corson graduated from the University of Montana in May 2010. Corson earned a Bachelor of Science, in business finance from the University of Montana in Missoula. He is a 2006 graduate of Mercer Island High School.
Bowdoin College
Gillian Grace Page of Mercer Island graduated from Bowdoin College in Maine at commencement ceremonies held on May 29. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in government, legal studies and Spanish.
Amherst College
Theodore Homchick, son of Robert Homchick and Daria Absher and Daniel Absher of Mercer Island, graduated from Amherst College in Massachusetts on May 23 with a degree in economics.
Savannah College of Art and Design
Rachel Anne Herrick, of Mercer Island, graduated in June from the Savannah College of Art and Design in Georgia. She earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts in performing arts.
Emory University
Kevin Hayes, of Mercer Island, received a Doctor of Law from the School of Law of Emory University in Atlanta, Ga., at its 165th commencement ceremony on May 10.
California Lutheran University
Ian Code, of Mercer Island, graduated from California Lutheran University in Thousand Oaks, Calif., during the undergraduate commencement ceremony held on May 15 in Mt. Clef Stadium. Code graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration.
Privett Academy
Matt Wiley and Margaret Helman graduated from the Privett Academy this spring and will head to college in the fall.
University of Portland
Kenneth Ankrom graduated from the University of Portland with a bachelor’s degree in marketing and management.
Haverford College
Kaia Davis, daughter of Kristiann Schoening and Peter H. Davis of Mercer Island, and a graduate of The Bush School, graduated from Haverford College. Davis received a bachelor’s degree in political science, with a minor in economics in Haverford, Pa., on May 16.
Seattle University
Natalie Duchaine is graduating from Seattle University with a degree in liberal studies. She is a MIHS graduate and does many philanthropy projects.
Oregon State University
Todd M. Anderson graduated from Oregon State University in OSU’s 141st commencement ceremony with a Bachelor of Arts in speech communication on June 12.
Nicole M. Scheid graduated from Oregon State University with a Bachelor of Science in psychology in OSU’s 141st commencement ceremony on June 12.
Villanova University
Hsuan-Wen Wang, of Mercer Island, graduated from Villanova University (Villanova, Pa.) during a commencement ceremony held on May 16 in Villanova Stadium. Wang earned a Bachelor of Science in business administration.
Washington State University
Graduates from Mercer Island include Rachel Franklin, with a Bachelor of Arts in social sciences; Megan Elizabeth Smersh, Bachelor of Science in economics sciences; Cristina Maria Turcanu, Bachelor of Arts in speech and hearing sciences; Paul Hosik Yoon, Bachelor of Science in architectural studies, cum laude; and Joshua Cunningham Kilburn, Bachelor of Arts in Social Sciences.
Western Washington University
Stephen Barnes earned a Bachelor of Arts in general studies. Kevin Li earned a Bachelor of Arts in sociology. Brynn Regan earned a Bachelor of Arts in journalism.
Williams College
Casey York graduated from Williams College magna cum laude with highest honors in her theater major on June 6 in Williamstown, Mass. She also received the Gilbert W. Gabriel 1912 Memorial Prize in Theater for the student who, during his or her four years, has made the most notable contribution to the advancement of theater at Williams. York is the daughter of Bruce and Kim York.
School of Visual Arts — New York City
Lilian Choung, a resident of Mercer Island, graduated from the School of Visual Arts in New York City with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in graphic design.
University of Pennsylvania
Leila Glass, MIHS class of 2006, graduated with honors from the University of Pennsylvania with a double major in cognitive neuroscience and science, technology and society. Glass will be working as a clinical research assistant at the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, Md.
Trinity College
Mercer Island’s Brianne Fitzpatrick recently graduated from Dublin’s Trinity College with a Bachelor of Arts in drama and theater studies. She plans on being a “Dubliner” while teaching at Dublin’s Independent Youth Theater.
Loyola University
Brent S. Struck, of Mercer Island, graduated from Loyola University, New Orleans, with a Bachelor of Arts from the College of Social Sciences.
Boston College
Alyssa Martin, a 2006 graduate of Mercer Island High School, graduated from Boston College’s Carroll School of Management, summa cum laude with honors with a Bachelor of Science in business, management, and accounting. She earned a Dean’s Letter of Commendation.
