Four former Island Park students graduated from Whitman College in Walla Walla, Wash., on May 20. The students started kindergarten at Island Park in September 1995.

The degrees conferred on the four were varied: Jacob Bruckner, biochemistry, biophysics and molecular biology with honors; Krista Garrett, geology with honors, magna cum laude; Alexander Strong, philosophy; and David Veith, biology with honors, cum laude.

Two other Mercer Island High School alumni also graduated from Whitman: Kelsey Fritts, anthropology with honors, and Ruben Raychaudhuri, biology.
