WSDOT and the Cascade Bicycle Club are enlisting the support of volunteers and other organizations to count up the numbers of people bicycling and walking on paths, bike lanes, sidewalks and other facilities across the state on Oct. 5-7.

The Washington State Documentation Project occurs annually in the early fall. Bicycle and pedestrian usage of specific intersections in cities throughout the state will be counted and documented, similar to the National Documentation Project.

Counts will be assembled from all over Washington state, but focused on several cities including: Bellevue, Bellingham, Bothell, Bremerton, Burien, Duvall, Ellensburg, Everett, Ferndale, Issaquah, Kelso, Kent, Kirkland, Longview, Lynden, Mercer Island, Mountlake Terrace, Oak Harbor, Olympia, Redmond, Richland, Seattle, Shoreline, Spokane, Tacoma, Tukwila, Vancouver, Walla Walla, Wenatchee and Yakima.

If you want to help with the 2010 counts, contact Ian Macek, WSDOT State Bicycle and Pedestrian coordinator, or Tessa Greegor, Cascade Bicycle Club.

Contact Macek at maceki@wsdot.wa.gov or (360) 705-7596, or Greegor at tessa.greegor@cascadebicycleclub.org or (206) 204-0913.
