Youth Theatre Northwest is my favorite place to go! I am 11 years old and I live on Mercer Island. I have been involved with YTN for five years and just finished my run as Pooh in “Winnie the Pooh.” This was a great experience for me because my first role was a very small part as a forest animal in “The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe,” four years ago. Over the years, YTN has helped me grow as an actress, a student and a person. There are a lot of reasons why I love YTN. It is a place where you meet new friends of all ages and you get acting experience. I have been in seven awesome and fun productions at YTN, and every one of them makes me want to do more. YTN is a place where I can do what I love. If I didn’t act at YTN, I wouldn’t have had the chance to audition for 5th Avenue Theatre and wouldn’t have the confidence to think I might get the part. I also love the directors, designers and faculty. They are all so supportive and nice. YTN camps are also a lot of fun. I know when you come to a show, or if you are in one, you can see how much fun the audience and actors are having. We work really hard on the shows and they do turn out awesome! I would also like to thank the Mercer Island Arts Council and the Mercer Island City Council for their donations to save YTN. It was so big and it really helped! I hope all kids on Mercer Island get a chance to become involved at YTN because it is a great place have here on the Island!
Sincerely,
Olivia Weber, 11
