Washington State Department of Transporation (WSDOT) has announced closures of both eastbound Interstate 90 and Interstate 405 that will affect Mercer Island drivers this weekend.
An overnight closure of eastbound I-90 between Seattle and Mercer Island is scheduled for July 12. Eastbound I-90 will close to traffic from 10 p.m. that evening until 6 a.m. on July 13 from the Rainier Avenue South exit to the Mercer Island Lid Tunnel to allow for tunnel maintenance. Drivers coming from Seattle will need to use alternate routes if traveling overnight on July 12.
WSDOT will also be closing both directions of I-405 between Coal Creek Parkway and Sunset Boulevard as part of its widening and express toll lanes project. The closure begins at 11 p.m. on July 12 and ends at 4 a.m. on July 15. Signed detour routes will guide people around the I-405 closures in both directions.
