City crews installed lights in the trees in the medians along 78th Avenue from Southeast 27th Street to Mercerdale Park on Nov. 14. The Illuminate MI volunteer set-up event was canceled that day due to COVID concerns. The city is still looking for sponsors and donors to help cover the purchase of lights and other items. Interested residents and organizations can call 206-275-7626 or email miparks@mercerisland.gov through Nov. 25. The city will soon be putting up lights in Mercerdale Park and the Sculpture Gallery.
