Is a bilingual education right for your child?

With 30-plus bilingual schools now in the Seattle metro area, many non-native and native English speaking parents are considering dual language education for their children.

With 30-plus bilingual schools now in the Seattle metro area, many non-native and native English speaking parents are considering dual language education for their children. Professor Emeritus Fred Genesee of McGill University in Montreal believes that bilingualism used to be a necessity primarily for immigrants.

Professor Genesee specializes in research on brain function in early dual language learners because he believes that language is central to a child’s learning abilities. His findings have been published in numerous books and publications.

Professor Genesee will speak on the value of bilingual education at 6 p.m, April 30, at the Stroum Jewish Community Center, 3801 East Mercer Way. This event is free and open to the public.
