Island pair meets president at White House science fair

Island residents Anika Patel, left, and Angela Riggins exhibited their award-winning science project entitled “Ecological Paper Printer and Ink Collection,” which involved designing future technology using current science at the White House Science Fair, hosted by President Obama on Oct. 20.

Island residents Anika Patel, left, and Angela Riggins exhibited their award-winning science project entitled “Ecological Paper Printer and Ink Collection,” which involved designing future technology using current science at the White House Science Fair, hosted by President Obama on Oct. 20. According to Riggins, the president was scheduled to spend just 30 seconds visiting with each of the winners. Instead, he spent more than five minutes with the Islander pair and their project. Both students attend Forest Ridge School in Bellevue.
