Islanders hit the golf course as part of 50th class reunion

Members of the Mercer Island High School Class of 1972 gather for the “Kiss the Rock” golf tournament on Aug. 25 at West Seattle Golf Course to kick off the events for their 50th high school reunion. They are: Craig Mitchell, Steve Young, Brad Brewster, Bob Cohon, Phil Menashe, Cary Jenkins, Brad Hillard (Class of ’71), Mark Saffle, Gary Bennett, Bill Sheard, Dan Walton, Carl Vonder Haar, Kevin Kerstiens, David Schirmer, Gerry Scalzo, Paul Cunnington, Bill Garrett and Rob Kraft. In the third-ever tournament, which was played with two-man scramble rules, they determined in the interest of fun that the third lowest scorer would take the trophy home and assume/organize the defense of the cup the following year.
