Representative Tana Senn who dually serves as a Mercer Island councilmember, has been appointed to positions on the Early Learning and Human Services Committee, the Environment Committee and the Capital Budget Committee, with the start of the 2014 legislative session yesterday.

“My placement on these committees will allow me to focus on improving the lives of families in the 41st Legislative District and across the state,” said the representative.

Senn was appointed to the House in September by a unanimous vote of the King County Council, replacing former state Rep. Marcie Maxwell, who joined Gov. Inslee’s education team.

“Ensuring our children get the healthiest possible start in their educations is of critical importance,” she explained. “Combined with fiscally sound state investments in schools, low-income housing and cultural institutions, our families and communities will see benefits for years to come.”

Referring to the Environment Committee, Senn continued, “In our state with such beautiful natural surroundings, we need to enjoy our environment even as we manage it responsibly for use by generations to come.”
