Sound Cities Association (SCA) past president, Kenmore Mayor David Baker, will continue to serve on the board of directors this year.

“David Baker is tireless and passionate in his work to make his hometown of Kenmore, and our entire county, the best we can be,” said King County Councilmember Rod Dembowski in a press release. “His enthusiasm is infectious and his positive approach to addressing issues, while caring about people on a personal level, motivates us all to be our best to get good things done for our constituents and communities.”

SCA executive director Deanna Dawson added in the release, “We are thrilled to have Mayor Baker on our board again for the coming year. Thanks to his ongoing leadership, SCA has enjoyed unprecedented success in our efforts to build long-term community and economic prosperity of our region and state.”

SCA represents 38 King County cities and provides a regional voice for more than one million people and regional leadership in areas such as economic and community development, transportation, land use, health, government operations, the environment, education, public safety, social welfare and other public policy issues, the release states.

According to the release, Baker and his wife Sheri live in Kenmore. Baker owns Vision Systems Engineering, Ltd., a machine vision, video inspection company, as well as an Internet-based cell phone service company that specializes in cell phone repairs and accessories.

Baker has served on the Kenmore City Council for the past 14 years. He serves on many local, regional, state and national boards and committees and continues to encourage informed participation by local elected officials, the release states.

SCA, which was formerly known as the Suburban Cities Association, was established 50 years ago to help King County cities of all sizes act locally and partner regionally to create vital and thriving communities through advocacy, education, leadership, mutual support and networking.
