King County Elections certified the final results for the Aug. 2 primary election on Aug. 16.
Here are the final tallies for the top candidates from the two districts that cover Mercer Island:
In the Congressional District 9 race for United States Representative, incumbent Adam Smith (D) finished with 55.21% of the vote (78,272) and Doug Basler (R) finished with 20.56% (29,144).
Both candidates advance to the Nov. 8 general election.
Also advancing to the general election in Legislative District 41 in the Representative Position No. 1 race are incumbent Tana Senn (D) with 78.61% (27,958) and Mike Nykreim (Election Integrity Party) with 20.64% (7,339).
In the Legislative District 41 race for Representative Position No. 2, incumbent My-Linh T. Thai (D) led the way with 69.36% (26,270) and Al Rosenthal (R) followed with 22.39% (8,479). Both candidates also advance to the general election.
