In case any of you reading here might be wondering, the Kiwanis club of Mercer Island so far this year (besides putting out flags on Holidays for many Mercer Island businesses, helping out at M.I. Preschool Association’s spring “Cirkus” by handling their cotton candy sales, then collecting donations for Eastside Baby Corner and helping two other Mercer Island non-profit service clubs sell the only fireworks legal in any local municipal jurisdiction plus most recently selling shaved ice/cones at our Mercer Island “Summer Celebration” like it has been doing for more years that can be counted) is still alive within our community.
At least eighty percent of any funding received from these endeavors goes to needs on Mercer Island and our Eastside non-profits which accept needy Mercer Islanders—mostly children. i.e. Kindering Center, Special Olympics, etc.
With rare exception your Mercer Island Kiwanis club still is and intends to continue meeting every Thursday at noon at Aljoya and could use some more members who either live AND/OR work on Mercer Island and are likewise interested in serving this/OUR community and having fun in the process of meeting and getting to know like-minded folks.
Anyone interested is encouraged to contact Dr. Harry A. Dingwall at 232-0672 but better yet e-mail to hdingwall@msn.com which avoids catching him with his hearing-aids down. Anyway remember us when you see the flags flowing for Labor Day and Veterans’ Day.
