Mail theft: A subject tampered with a mailbox latch and stole mail in the 3400 block of 74th Avenue Southeast.
Fraud: A resident in the 2700 block of 64th Avenue Southeast reported that a subject attempted to steal funds by trying to change the victim’s direct deposit information.

Theft: A subject stole tire parts from a vehicle in the 7700 block of Southeast 58th Street.

Vehicle theft: After a subject broke into a victim’s vehicle in a neighboring city, the subject used the spare key stolen from that vehicle to swipe the victim’s other car on Mercer Island in the 4300 block of 91st Avenue Southeast. Mercer Island Police Department reminds residents not to keep spare keys in their car.
June 24
Theft: A resident in the 7700 block of Southeast 58th Street spotted a possible package thief following a delivery truck and attempting to steal packages just as they were delivered. Officers conducted a search of the area for the suspect’s vehicle.
June 23
Vehicle prowl: A subject stole bank cards, a social security card and a vehicle title from inside a vehicle in the 6500 block of West Mercer Way. Mercer Island Police Department reminds community members not to keep their vehicle title inside their car. Also, Washington state does not require drivers to keep a physical copy of the vehicle registration in their vehicle. They must simply be able to show a photo of the registration to an officer that is saved on their phone, for example. This helps to prevent the theft of the physical paper title and registration from their glove box. It also keeps thieves from knowing where the owner lives when they break into a vehicle parked away from home.

Vehicle prowl: It was reported that laptops were stolen from unlocked vehicles in the 4600 block of 86th Avenue Southeast.
