Amy Lavin will discuss “The Stroum Jewish Community Center: Open and Welcoming to all for 75 Years!” at the Rotary Club of Mercer Island’s meeting on Sept. 3 at the Mercer Island Community and Event Center, 8236 SE 24th St. The main meeting begins at 12:30 p.m.; socializing is from noon to 12:30 p.m. Guests are always welcome and there is no fee to attend. A catered lunch is available for $25, or attendees can bring their own meal.
Lavin, who has served as the CEO of the Stroum Jewish Community Center (SJCC) of Greater Seattle since January 2017, will share the countless ways SJCC creates opportunities for everyone on Mercer Island and beyond to connect through educational, recreational and cultural programs designed to build and strengthen community. As the J celebrates 75 years of profound connection this year, the agency is pursuing the best ways to meet community need for the next 75, ideally on Mercer Island.
