Perhaps some Council members were not around when the petition drive and more preserved Mercerdale Park. Now talk is that part of the park might be given over to the children’s theater. A noble endeavor, but why? The community center has room for the nonprofit theater at a low rental cost. Plus, the community center is closer to the town center and its restaurants, et cetera, than its current location by the high school.
Let’s keep the children’s theater on the Island and house it at the community center without intruding on Mercerdale Park.
