The Interstate 90 express lanes across Mercer Island will be closed to late night and early morning drivers next week.

Crews working for Sound Transit will close the lanes nightly at 8 p.m. Monday Aug. 12 until Friday, Aug. 16. The lanes will reopen for commuters in the westbound direction each morning by 6 a.m.

The eastbound carpool lane exit to Bellevue Way SE and Interstate 405 and the southbound carpool ramp from Bellevue Way SE will only be closed the nights of Aug. 12 and 13.

During the closure, Sound Transit will be doing exploratory boring and survey work as part of the East Link light rail extension project.
