Litzow maintains slight lead in District 41 state senate primary | Elections

Steve Litzow, a current City Council member for Mercer Island, led state Senator Randy Gordon in the District 41 senate primary race, as of Friday morning.

Litzow has earned 50.2 percent of the votes, while Gordon is close behind with 49.7 percent.

In the race for the state representative position currently held by Marcie Maxwell, Maxwell is ahead of Islander Peter Dunbar. Maxwell earned 51.7 percent of the early votes and Dunbar gained 48.1 percent.

In the state representative position, incumbent Judy Clibborn has the lead with 56.3 percent, while Stephen Strader has 38.5 percent.

The top two in each race move on to November’s general election under the state’s top two primary system.

In the U.S. Senate race, Patty Murray has a lead in King County with 58.6 percent of the votes, while Republican challenger Dino Rossi has 27.5 percent; statewide, the percentage is 46 percent for Murray and 33 percent for Rossi.

The final results for the election will be posted on Sept. 1. The general election will take place on Nov. 2.
