The Mercer Island Police Department, in partnership with the city’s Healthy Youth Initiative, is once again coordinating with the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration to offer a Meds Take-Back event. The free, anonymous, in-person event will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. April 24 at the loading dock on the west side of Mercer Island City Hall (9611 S.E. 36th St.).
To protect the safety of staff and volunteers, attendees should wear masks and practice social distancing and they will need to place their own medications into the disposal bins. Most prescription and over-the-counter medications are accepted.
The Healthy Youth Initiative is also offering a medication lockbox to any Mercer Island resident at no cost, on a first-come, first-served basis.
