The Mercer Island boys 15U Mickey Mantle baseball team won the Can-Camp Cup tournament in Surrey, British Columbia, over the July 4 weekend. The team of eight boys from Mercer Island faced off against teams from Canada.

The team started the tournament on Friday with pool play and the team finished 2-1, with wins over Burnaby Braves and North Delta Astros, before losing to the Vancouver Mounties.

With the loss to the Mounties, the kids from Mercer Island started the single elimination round of the tournament with a rematch against Vancouver, which they won 6-0.

The win put the team in the final against the top team, also from the U.S. Narrows Baseball Club. After six innings the game was tied, 6-6, but the team from Mercer Island took the win with a 10-6 final score.
