Fastpitch falls to Juanita
Mercer Island fastpitch fell to Juanita 9-3 Friday at Juanita High School. The Islanders kept the game close before Juanita used a four-run third inning to pull away. Makenna Pellerin went 2-4 scoring a run and batting in another for Mercer Island. The Islanders will take on Liberty at 4:30 p.m. Monday, April 28 at Liberty High School.
Baseball shuts out Interlake
Mercer Island baseball bounced back from a 4-0 loss to Sammamish Wednesday, beating Interlake 4-0 Friday, April 25 at Interlake High School. Chris Lawler earned the win for Mercer Island, allowing two hits and no runs while striking out six in a complete game performance. Lawler also went 2-4 at the plate with a double, while Harrison Goonewardene went 1-2 while batting in two runs. Mercer Island will take on Juanita at 7 p.m. Monday, April 28 at Island Crest Park.
Girls lacrosse streak ends at Snohomish
After winning its last two games, Mercer Island girls lacrosse fell to Snohomish 12-8 at Glacier Peak High School. Maddy Kanter, Hannah Paborsky, June Kissel and Leah Paborsky each had two goals for Mercer Island, with Holly Waggoner also scoring for the Islanders. In goal, Allessandra Dunbar had five saves. Next, Mercer Island will take on Lakeside Monday, April 28 at Mercer Island High School.
Juanita rallies to tie boys soccer
After taking a 2-0 lead over Juanita Friday, the Rebels got two goals from Riley O’Rourke to tie Mercer Island boys soccer 2-2 at Juanita High School. The tie dropped Mercer Island, at 6-1-4 in KingCo, to third place in conference standings behind Liberty (7-2-2) and Mount Si (7-2-2). Daniel Sims and Ryan Hill both scored for the Islanders, with Sean Bender assisting on both goals. Mercer Island will take on Liberty at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 29 at Liberty High School.
