The Mercer Island boys swim team hosted Kennedy Catholic in a non-conference meet on Tuesday, Jan. 22.
The Islanders have just one regular season meet left this season, against Roosevelt on Friday, Jan. 25 at Evans Pool in Seattle.
Against Kennedy, the Islanders 200 medley relay team of Austin Ralph, Noah Deiparine, Duncan Koontz and Karl MacLane finished second overall in 1:42.98.
Ian Caldwell earned a second place finish in the 200 freestyle race in 1:51.50, while David Conger finished third in 1:56.22. In the 200 invididual medley race, Samuel Chong was second in 2:04.26 and Koontz finished third in 2:08.65.
Deiparine won the 50 freestyle sprint in 22.45 seconds, with Waesche right behind him in second place in 22.88.
Islander Cody Hall finished second overall in the diving competition, earning 176.25 points, while Connor Nielson was fourth with 118.5 points.
MacLane finished second in the 100 butterfly race in 59.64 seconds, followed by Waesche in third in 1:02.33. Caldwell was second in the 100 freestyle event, finishing the race in 50.11, with Samuel Peterson in third in 52.37. Andrew Fukuda finished the race in 52.57 for fourth place.
Koontz won the 500 freestyle race, finishing the event in 5:18.57, while Ben Gore was second in 5:19.55 and Chris Apodaca was third in 5:21.53.
Mercer Island’s 200 freestyle relay team of MacLane, Waesche, Deiparine and Caldwell, finished second overall in 1:31.61.
Chong was second in the 100 backstroke in 56.99 seconds, while Conger earned third place in 1:00.24. Ralph finished in fourth palce in 1:00.55.
Deiparine notched his second individual win of the meet in the 100 breast stroke event, finishing in 1:03.30, while Fukuda was second and Ben Simontov was fifth.
The Islanders won the 400 freestyle relay in 3:31.98 with the group of Caldwell, Waesche, Ralph and Koontz.
After wrapping the regular season this week, the Islanders will begin the postseason with the KingCo meet next weekend.
