After an extended break due in part to weather and spring break, the Mercer Island girls tennis team returned to action Monday afternoon, beating Newport 5-2.
In the singles competition Nora Tan beat Aimee Vo 7-6, 6-3, Lydia Venditti beat Allison Lee 6-0, 6-2, Gabby Venditti beat Stephanie Lim 6-0, 6-2 and Melanie Lee beat Erica Hsai 6-1, 6-2.
In the doubles competition, Newport’s Angela Chen and Amy Yuen beat Sophia Gage and Caroline Dillon 6-4, 6-1. The Knight’s duo of Jane Choi and Emily Chen beat Carissa Ham and Ashley Larson 6-3, 6-4, while the Islanders won the third match up of Sarah Kahan and Kajal Tiwary beating Kristi Gable and Lucy Want 6-2, 6-3.
The Islanders will host Kamiak Tuesday, April 17 before playing Lake Washington on Wednesday, April 18.
