Mercer Island beats Scarborough | Boys prep lacrosse

The Mercer Island boys lacrosse team earned a win during it’s East Coast trip, beating Maine’s Scarborough team 15-2 on Thursday, April 4.

The Mercer Island boys lacrosse team earned a win during it’s East Coast trip, beating Maine’s Scarborough team 15-2 on Thursday, April 4.

The Islanders dominated the game, up 3-0 at the end of the first quarter, adding six points in the second quarter to hold a 9-0 lead at halftime.

In the second half, Mercer Island scored three points in each quarter, while holding Scarborough to a point in each quarter.

Grant Preisler scored three goals during the game with three assists and two ground balls. Peter Mahony added three goals, two assists and four ground balls, while Cooper Johnson had three goals and one ground ball. Steen Swedstedt scored one goal with two assists, Justin Rorem had one goal and two assists, while Devlin Conway had 11 ground balls. Goalie Benji Rothenberg made one save, while Scotty Lee had five saves.

Mercer Island will return to Massachusetts today for it’s final game of the trip against Concord-Carlisle.
