After the first episode of NBC’s Fashion Star barely featured Mercer Island designer Lisa Vian Hunter, the show quickly made up for it on Tuesday night.
Vian Hunter was one of the first three designers on the show to present their looks to the buyers. Her sleeveless, pleated empire waist dress, was a big hit with Macy’s who picked it up. The dress, which is currently on sale at Macy’s is already sold out, but retails for $99.
Prior to the showcase on stage, Vian Hunter meet with the show’s mentors, as well as some actual customers. The mentors suggested a slightly lower neckline to the dress. Despite feeling wary about making the change so soon before going to the stage for the show, Vian Hunter lowered it – making the dress a hit.
Thanks to the offer, Vian Hunter will remain on the show for another week.
Seattle’s other area designer, Lizzie Parker, who lives in Sammamish, didn’t impress as much this week, failing to garner offers from any of the three buyers. During the first episode her shirt was purchased by Macy’s. This week, Parker faced elimination as one of the bottom two designers. The buyers and mentors were both concerned about a lack of color in the shirt she presented. Parker survived the elimination and will return next week.
Fashion Star airs on NBC on Tuesday nights at 10 p.m.
