The Mercer Island Fire Department, which partners with King County’s Medic One emergency medical care system, was commended for its top-notch service.
In June, performance figures were released showing that the survival rate for patients suffering cardiac arrests was at 55 percent, the highest in the world.
King County’s Medical Director Dr. Mickey Eisenberg has set a new goal of 60 percent survival in the next five years. MIFD Chief Chris Tubbs encouraged all citizens to help and enroll in local CPR and AED training classes.
