Mercer Island girls basketball avenged its earlier-season loss to Lake Washington, beating the Kangs 67-37 Wednesday night at MIHS. The Islanders (13-6, 8-3) pounced early, taking a 14-5 lead after one and only saw their lead grow from there. Julia Blumenstein led Mercer Island in scoring with 16 points, and Anna Luce had 11.
Lake Washington’s Sydney Sheppard, who posted a career-high 39 points in the previous matchup between the two teams, led the Kangs (7-12, 4-7) with 18 points.
