The Mercer Island unit of the League of Women Voters and the PTA Council are hosting a candidate forum from 7-9 p.m. on Oct. 18 in the Northwood Elementary commons. Doors open at 6:45 p.m.
Voters will hear from the 41st District candidates and candidates for the Superintendent of Public Instruction.
The 41st District candidates for Senate are Steve Litzow (R, incumbent) and Lisa Wellman (D); for House seat 41a, John Pass (R) and Tana Senn (D, incumbent), and for House seat 41b, Michael Appleby (R) and Judy Clibborn (D, incumbent). Litzow, Wellman, Senn and Clibborn are Mercer Island residents.
Erin Jones and Chris Reykdal are running for superintendent of schools, a nonpartisan postition. Jones, an assistant superintendent to former state Superintendent Randy Dorn, and Reykdal, a former state representative who served in the state Legislature as a Democrat, placed first and second, respectively, in the primary election and will compete in the November general election.
Mercer Island resident and award-winning journalist Hilary Benson will moderate. The event is free and open to the public. Parking will be available in both Northwood lots.
