Fire truck party set for June 8...City rummage sale planned for June 14...National Trail Day June 8...more.

Fire truck party

A festive celebration will be held at 11 a.m. on Sunday, June 8, to officially roll the new fire trucks into the North end firehouse, Station 91. City leaders and fire department personnel will be on hand and refreshments will be served.

City rummage sale

The annual All Island Garage Sale is from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m., June 14 at the CCMV. Be prepared to find treasures of all kinds to take home with you. There is still space available if you would like to sell in the garage sale. Please call (206) 275-7609 to reserve your space.

Mystery trek

The National Trails Day Trail Trek, a “C.S.I” mystery and crime solving-themed trail hike will begin at 1 p.m. on June 8, in Pioneer Park at N.E. quadrant. Activities include searching for bones, matching fingerprints, investigating shoeprints, identifying counterfeit money and more. The first 75 youth hikers will receive activity kits to use to solve the “mystery crime” along the hike for a junior crime solver reward. This is a Mercer Island Parks & Recreation Department Special Event. For questions, please call (206) 275-7891.

Baccalaureate

Mercer Island Baccalaureate will be held at 7 p.m. on Thursday, June 5, at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 8501 S.E. 40th St. Baccalaureate is a student-led, interfaith community gathering that applauds the accomplishments of the graduating senior class and blesses them on their way. Happy Trails

It’s time to round up your partners and saddle up for this year’s Summer Celebration “Happy Trails” Parade, July 12. Summer Celebration is going Western this year. To sign up for your space in the grand parade, go to the city Web site at www.mercergov.org and go to the Summer Celebration link.

Food bank is low

The Youth and Family Services food bank pantry is low on supplies. To help, bring nonperishable food items to the Parks and Rec. building at Luther Burbank Park or call 275-7611.
