Teen drinking

A 16-year-old high school student was taken to Overlake Hospital in Bellevue after police found her intoxicated at the high school football game on Friday, Oct. 3, around 8:45 p.m. According to the police report, she was arrested, processed at the Island police station and taken to the hospital for observation.

Arrests

A 28-year-old transient was arrested for driving without a license on I-90 around 1:30 p.m. on Oct. 3. The police report states that the suspect was driving a truck registered to his friend, who also has a suspended license, according to records with the department of licensing.

A 31-year-old man was arrested for driving with a suspended license after he was pulled over for another traffic offense around 9:10 a.m. on Oct. 3 in the 7500 block of S.E. 24th Street.

A 29-year-old Seattle man was also arrested for driving with a suspended license on the Island in the 2600 block of 77th Avenue S.E. around 4:30 p.m. on Oct. 2.

Indecent exposure

A student at a private academy, located in 9600 block of S.E. 36th Street, told an administrator that he saw a driver of a student transport masturbating in a rest room between noon and 1 p.m. on Oct. 2.

Sexual assault

A 53-year-old Seattle man is suspected of sexually assaulting an 87-year-old resident of a group residence in the 7400 block of S.E. 24th Street, around 3 p.m. on Sept. 26. According to the police report, the suspect is a friend of the family and was witnessed committing the crime by nursing staff. Police are investigating.

‘Grandma scam’ averted

An Island resident prevented a scam targeting his 91-year-old mother on the afternoon of Sept. 29. According to the police report, the Islander took a call from someone asking for her grandmother. The Islander, suspecting fraud, called his only niece, who said that she had not called. When the scammer called back, the Islander asked to be identified, only to be hung up on.

Shoplifting

A North-end QFC employee caught a 17-year-old high school student stealing food from the grocery store at 1:15 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 1. According to the police report, the teen was seen leaving the store without paying for a deli sandwich, a 20-ounce bottle of Coke and a Reese’s candy bar. The QFC employee confronted the boy in the parking lot, and the suspect returned the items. Police later contacted the young man at his home and obtained a written statement of his version about what happened.

Lost

A 47-year-old Tent City resident believes that she lost her wallet sometime between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. on Sept. 30. According to the police report, she remembered leaving her wallet in her backpack, left at the entrance of her tent, and could not find it when she returned. She told the officer that she probably put the wallet down somewhere else and forgot it. She also told police that she did not think anyone stole it. The wallet contained credit and debit cards, a Merchant Mariner document and a passport.

Car prowl

A small knife, and car and boat registration documents were stolen from the glove box of a car parked in the 6500 block of S.E. 28th Street the night of Sept. 30.

A laptop computer was stolen from a car after the driver-side window was smashed in the 4300 block of 88th Avenue S.E. between 6 and 6:40 a.m. on Oct. 1.

A second laptop computer was taken from another car in the same location during the same time. The prowler smashed the passenger-side window to get inside the car.

Theft

A bicycle locked to the fence at the North Mercer Park and Ride was stolen between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. on Sept. 30. According to the police report, the 23-year-old victim left the bike locked when he caught the bus to work. When he returned that evening, his $500 bike was gone.

An Islander’s debit card number was used to purchase $30 worth of gas in Florida sometime between noon on Sept. 29 and 3 p.m. on Sept. 30.

Collision

A three-car collision occurred in the 4200 block of Island Crest Way at 5:20 p.m. on Sept. 30. According to the police report, a car stopped in the left lane to take a left turn, but an 18-year-old Islander two cars behind did not have time to stop and rear-ended the car in front of him, pushing it into the turning car.

Parking woes

A 27-year-old Island resident must have forgotten where he had parked when returning home to the Town Center during the morning of Sept. 26. According to the police report, the Islander thought that he had parked in the Island Square parking garage around 3 a.m. but could not find his car when he returned at 10 a.m. He reported the Chevy Impala as stolen, but recalled later that evening that he had parked in the QFC lot, where he found his car.

Burglary

A small amount of cash was stolen from a condo in the 3200 block of 80th Avenue S.E. between 4 and 11 p.m. on Sept. 27. According to the police report, the suspect entered the condo by removing a small screen from an open ground-floor window, but nothing else was missing from the home.

Dog fight

An Island resident reported to police that while he was walking his dog in Pioneer Park on Oct. 4, another dog attacked his dog around 4:30 p.m.
